You could probably work in a reference to Bill Anderson’s mother in there somewhere. She was killed by a lightning strike in 1860, in what I can only assume was God’s preemptive retribution for her having brought Bill into the world.
Wow. I haven't read Gone to Texas for 50 years, and never read the Vengeance Trail. I do have the Clint Eastwood DVD on my shelf.
My father's family in northern Arkansas had a whole mess of cousins in Missouri--they were descended from the French who'd been there for about a century. Some could have ridden with Wales. Some of their brothers were definitely Redlegs, the Unionist bad guys of the movie.
That side of the family did much better than the other after the war; I'll tell you that. One of them even became a US Senator and grifted big time.
Me and Brady have actually discussed having you on at some point to discuss a bodice ripper. Would def be funny. I actually picked up the civil war one you reccs a while ago hahaha.
"Mother of Outlaws" would make a badass title btw.
💯 stealing that for my future bushwhacker novel

Oh geez, that’s some crazy Bloody Bill lore
Had no idea it was a book. My favorite movie. Cant wait to read both. Thanks!

That’s cool ass family lore. The Kansas/MO border war never ended in some sense, still have ppl wandering around worshipping John Brown
Haven’t read this one but love Eastwood’s film.
Frank, you a Warlock guy?
It’s been on the tbr for a while
Same. Just an A+ title in general but especially for a western.
Looks like another book to add to my list.
P.S. Have you thought about reviewing a Tom Clancy novel?
You know, I haven’t read a ton of Clancy but have had Without Remorse on my tbr for a while
I’ve only read The Hunt for Red October and I can proudly recommend it. 👍
I feel like I have to read that one at some point because it’s such a classic of the genre
The movie is also really good.
You've gotta read Rosemary Rogers lmao
Any specific reccs?
I gave it a brief review a while ago:

I'm only half-serious btw. But, I think it would be really funny if you did.

NICE. I am willing to discuss absolute trash fiction
