Donald Westlake was Dr. Jeykl; Richard Stark was his Mr. Hyde.

What a great breakdown. I love the Parker novels. Westlake is one of my favorite writers. The dude wrote about crime and always made me laugh. I love his Dortmunder series as well. The Hot Rock is hard to beat. I've read about half the Parker novels and planning to finish the rest this year. I wasn't aware of Jason Statham's Parker movie. I'll definitely check that one out but I'll probably try to read the book first. Great post, Frank.

Thanks Parker! Super glad you enjoyed. This was my first experience with Westlake and I think he made a fan for life. Ironically, I just picked up The Hot Rock today

You’ll love it. It’s ridiculous. Haha. Westlake’s one of my top writers. I’ve read tons of his stuff. He’s a heavy influence on me. Enjoy.

I borrowed much of Parkers relentless drive to “settle the score” in The Hippie Hunter. It was a big influence. You failed to mention Lee Marvin in Point Blank (1967) my favorite Parker adaptation.

See, Parker continues to inspire! Insane levels of trope codification with the character. Have not seen the Lee Marvin movie but a big fan of him… will have to check out
